Hi
Can anyone give us an idea of how we go about having our own web page?. We are set to travel for 12 months and wish to be able to post our
pic's and video's on the net so family and friends can view them. Think this would be a better idea than bombarding people inboxes with content they might not wish to see.
Cheers Lyndon

Lyndon,
If all your wanting to do is post images (with some annotation) - use a site like Flickr.com or Picasa.com
These free sites hold your photos & video for others to see. You can control who
views them - or make them viewable to everyone.
Personally - i use Picasa - i store all my own photos on Picaca2 on my laptop - then when im online - click -'Load to Web' - its as simple as that.
Im not sure about the others - but my free Picasa account is 1gb - which is plenty of space for me.
Ive maintained websites over the past 10 years - but mainly for displaying travel photos - i no longer bother.
hope this info helps.

I agree, Piccasa is the way to go, and if you want to blog as
well the I'd use WordPress

Consider setting up a Yahoo Group (or MSN). You can restrict
membership and it also gives you the ability to post e-mail and pics and people can choose to either read them on the website or have them e-mailed. A good option for trip type stuff.

I enjoyed the quick look at your photos thanks - looks like a few 'interesting' moments. Lovely sunset (or sunrise shots) - i didn't mind seeing those one duplicated (or even quintuplicated!). Even saw a Bushtracker in one of the photos. Can topics be put on with each photo?
