Can anybody tell me what I can do to remove the taste of the fresh
water tank fitted to my camper trailer. Unit is new as it makes the water very hard to drink due to the taste. Old wives tales can be included.

Stoker,
Try using Milton in the tank. It is used for sterilising babies bottles and has always worked for our new tanks.
Regards.

Most Marine shops around sell
water tank "conditioners" that you flush through your system. You will have to do this from time to time. Cheers

Stop wasting your time with all these so called additive that clean and make your water taste good, they don't work, install a twin filter (for germs and taste) water filter in between the pump and tank, then you only need to flush your tank every 3 to 6 mths to keep crud from building up in the tank.

They may clean the water, but it still taste funny, but each to their own, if you want to add cleaning crap to your water that's fine with me, i like good tasting filtered water when camping as you can't get tap water in the bush.
I don't go to Van Parks and on ocassionS i fill the camper tank with river water, some of the rivers we have filed from weren't the clearest or cleanest, but the filters took care of that, making the water clear and and it taste good too from the campers kitchen tap.

Pour a litre of Vinegar in the Tank then fill up with water, Tow the Trailer around
the block then leave it to stand for a couple of hours, Then drain and flush the tank with fresh Water.
It's the cheapest option to start with, And it worked for us.
Regards
John

G,day Stoker571, we have found that garden hoses can leave a feral taste in your water as
well. The hotter the hose the stronger the flavour [eg if the hose has been lying un the sun]. We had friends staying at our place a while ago that filled their tank with our hose that was lying in the sun you could smell the taint even in their coffee after being boiled in a kettle. Cheers

Where are you people getting all this water for flushing tanks ?? LoL
We have got level 4 water restrictions, no outside use of water.
Got into trouble with the little woman for taking the concrete mixer into the kitchen when I needed to mix concrete for a path. No chance of being able to flush anything but the loo. LoL
