Was pricing a 2nd set of tyres today purley for off road trips for the GU IV, with the 3 inch lift figured 315/75R16 would be the go. Looked at the Procomps, Mickey Thompsons, all around $370 mark. Nearly fell over when I was quoted $550 for the Cooper STT's. Has anyone tried these and would they pay that price again. Are they really THAT much better ?
Cheers....Greg

I have STTs in 285/75R16s and am pretty certain that $550 is a pretty high watermark - although I've not tried buying the 315/75's. Try another dealer.
Mine are in pretty good nick after 43,000 of which about 50% is highway, 40% off-road/sand, and 10% off track and mountain goat stuff.
I have staked one of them (sidewall) on mallee root in the Simpson whilst shooting the
Simpson Desert Cycle Challenge ... just prior I had been going flat out along a station track trying to catch a cyclist who took a wrong turn, as
well as a bit of off-track work - not surprising really, but it was repairable.
They are the right compromise for me.
Cheers
Andrew.

Obviously he did not want to sell you a set of big Coopers.
Check all the posts, I seen a new set get chopped up on the outback roads.
Not too sure how they are performing now
Give
Laura & Nathan (NSW member--- Diver 1 ) an email to see theirs are travelling 8 months later.
Cheers Mate
