Just got back from Fraser Island (Not as Bad as i thought it was going to be, as it being
Easter) when leaving the Island the barge operator gave me this notice of
the beach being closed at
hook point ( to do with Migrating Birds) & will have to use the inland route which is a corrugated & not of a standard to take all the traffic that
the beach gets (there's a web site for a petition but this closed on th 13th www.parliament.qld.gov.au/view/Epdetitions_qld/currentEPetition.aspx?Petnum=786
More Goverment closures : I spoke to a
ranger at
Rainbow Beach & he was saying they don't want it closed & it made No sence to close it. but its come from head office & they have properly never been there.

It said in the Courier Mail that
Hook Point was to be closed to vehicles for the birds and to make a safe (traffic free) beach for families to
camp. I don't know how families will get there to
camp, I guess they will have to carry their family tent and a week's supplies from the crappy old inland track. BTW that track is the one the Troopy full of tourists rolled on and at least one died from memory. Politicians with no common sense making decisions on the run. Typical of the Peter Beater era.
