I am looking for some opinions on the Qantas museum at Longreach we did a trip last year and stopped at Longreach did the Stockman's hall but opted out of the Qantas museum. well where passing through there again this year and wondering if we might of missed out so for any of you that have visited it is it worth the $70 for the family or would the money be better spent elsewhere along our journey???
I have other questions about some other places but will post them some other time

Thx

If it includes the 747 tour it's worth it.
The museum was of interest to me because my grandfather was involved in re-constructing some of the displays from his wing building days for the Dehavillands. He was the last surviving member of his team and got his name on the plaque at the front door.

Also in Ilfracombe there is a museum in Romani Hall which is dedicated to the young men of the district who were in the Light Horsemen. It's got lots of photos, letters and a moving video display. Really worth the effort to stop for a look.

Wayne
A good place to spend a night is at the Council Showground Caravan Park at Barcaldine, good showers and amenities. Have parked there for a night when escorting loads, the truck has room just outside the gate ,

I did not find it that interesting, but did not do the 747 tour.

I rave over the Darwin air museum where they have the B52, spent hours there.

The Boss also found the Qantas a bit of a dud.

Both liked the Stockman hall of fame though.

I am an aviation enthusiast and was a bit disappointed with the Qantas museum. I was very interested in the Giant Moth replica. I had only ever seen photos and I was impressed with the size.

As far as aviation museums go it is not even in the running with anything O/S. Too much empty space and bill boards with writing on them. I personally wouldn't pay extra to go on board a stationary 747!

G'Day Wayne, We did the museum and 747 and believe it to be well worth the cost. The kids loved it just as much as we did and also learnt a lot. Cheers
