I wonder if there is one components manufacturer supplying many vehicle manufacturers. I know of plenty of Nissan's from this build time having 5th gear drama's (usually spline shafts) and many Cruisers from 99 with bearing and 5th gear hassles also. Coincidence????
Sometimes better to rebuild what you know. SO long as you know full history it can be safer. If you intend on keeping the vehicle that is otherwise just the cheapest option will do.
Regards, Trevor.

we did one in the workshop about 3 weeks ago, the owner went for a reco box, when it arrived same problem, sent it back, ordered another, it got sent to
perth instead of
katherine, many phone calls later we found that the truck had passed through
katherine and the box was in
darwin.... if you are handy with the spanners you might do it yourself as 5th is outside the box and not too hard to get at.
