Well that's what the dealer called it when I picked it up yesterday. Traded my 2004 GU III in on the new 3 LTR common rail. Got the auto this time so it's more difficult to compare but the new engine is definitely quieter starting, accelerating and at highway speeds. As for more get up and go? hard to tell just yet but it feels more flexible, of cause the auto may have something to do with this. I haven't driven it far as yet so only early days but I am very impressed at this stage. Can't wait to hook he CT up and see how it tows.

The reason I bought the Patrol again? I was happy with the last one and got a great deal so could change over lease early. Also it's nice to have warranty again, just for piece-of-mind. I had nil problems with the last one (only 80,000 KM) and hope this one serves me as well.

Would be interested to hear from any other new owners to get their opinions so far.

Regards
Mark

KKC, mine is the ST Auto burnt silver, tow bar, dual batteries, tint, headlight & bonnet protectors and mats. Kept my rhino racks and 2100x1200 rhino basket. Drive away was around $54K with fleet discount and also got an additional $4.5K trade to help me out with paying out finance so I'm pretty happy with that.

autos and turbos go well together, because of the auto the turbo isnt going back to idle and have to boost up again, so the turbo is mostly on song

hiab, yeah I think the auto helps with driveability. It certainly feels less truck-like than the manual.

Hi Mark ( Hardo)
Please tell me more on a perhaps monthly basis. We have to upgrage to a new and competent tow vehicle for a newly bought but very deficient caravan. New release or existing proven models is the question. Money is not the question. We want reliablity and km value when towing just so we can gypsey the road again.

Perhap's A v 8 Toyota Diesel ?

The only thing is if you trade a 3 liter Nissan at Toyota they will only give you what the Wrecker's opps Vehicle Auctions will give them for the Vehicle.

On behalf of many regular forumites, I suggest 'goingplatinumcomau' be changed to 'oxygenthiefcomau' . - started off well............
Sorry SKIer, hope you recieve some worthwhile feedback from Hardo, who has been very pleased with his Nissan (No, I don't own one, so can't really comment on them).
Generally, proven models, or the 'update / series 2' of a new release are a better option over new releases. New release's are seldom without faults or glitches, and these are the basis for an update model to be released - these faults are fixed here.

cheers
Pnut

John, Shane, goingplatinumcomau or whatever your names are - "put up or shut up" - your constant ill-informed drivel has become monotonous and is not welcome.

People have reported good trade in or private sale results (i raised this in a post a last month - and also got additional feedback through member messaging).

All I can say is, you are giving goingplatinumcomau exactly what he wants......He continually fishes with this and everyone bites.....Just ignore it......Even though I think he is a little over the top, he is entitled to his opinion, no matter how incorrect we all think it is.......

Nah - these guys have a 3.5 LITER Nissan 1990 model as per his previous posts, valued at $14,000 - must built in China or somewhere under a fake badge and bought off an eBay clone website. It does work - they're just to scared to drive it around the block in case it goes KABOOM.

SKIer, it would depend on what size/weight you want to tow. My opinion is large caravans etc should be towed with 6 or 8 cylinder diesel/petrol. My CT weighs in at approx 1200 kg loaded so I'm pretty happy with the towability of the Patrol 3L TD. As for reliability we all hope that the early engine issues are sorted out and hopefully we can get some long term reliability and confidence in the engine. Again only my opinion but I am extremely impressed in the performace of the 3L TD hauling a hefty ful size 4WD.

G'day Mark , traded up to a GU IV from my GQ 4.2 Petrol in December, Love it !!!
3.0 manual ST-S. Did Murray Sunset N.P. over Easter, It ate Border Track, and it's still pretty standard, but not for long. Ordered it with the Nissan Steel bar, Winch, snorkel and Tow pack. So far have added Outback roof console, UHF, Roof Rack and Lightforce 240's.
VERY HAPPY.

Cheers Greg

Greg, sounds great. I hope to add some more accessories over time too. My GUIII served us well with a trip to central Australia via Flinders Ranges, Oodnadatta, Old Ghan, etc. Vehicle performed flawlessly and was basically standard apart from some decent LT tyres, polyairs & dual batteries. Was very happy so bought another one.
