Anyone know anyone thinking of selling one of the above mentioned wind ups. We are looking for preferrably an offroad version of any brand but no pull out beds.

Qld would be preferred but other areas considered.

You might not like the pull out beds, but after owning a penguin with it's tiny bed, we now have a Jayco with a pull out queen size bed and it is luxury.

Not trying to talk you out of anything, just making sure you are aware. Also, we fell into the trap of storing everything under the bed, which is obviously at the front, resulting in very saggy springs and an out of balance set up.

Try to avoid putting too much heavy stuff in the camper at all (as noted by Jayco in the DVD you get when you buy a new one)

Basically, if the penguin had a big bed and the axle was not so far back it would be perfect for me.

We have a goldstream we looked at the penguin but thought the bed was to small and the build quality was not as good as the Goldstream. We would not swap it for anything else it takes about 5 minutes and you are completely set up,no wet canvass on the bed just perfect for two people. We have an awning fitted the roll out type and find the shade very useful. Go the goldstream it is a better finish. We purchased new as they are very hard to find.
Good luck

Goldstream or Coramal

DON'T GET an Offroad Jayco cause they ARE NOT an offroad camper, in fact Jayco say not for offroad use and you will void your warrenty if something breaks offroad.

Baz, I think Coromal say the same thing ??

Don't think any of them are OFF road campers......maybe good dirt roads are more the go ??

Thanks guys but I know all that, especially the strength and build quality of the Jayco. Unfortunately at present our budget is limited and that is the only reason I am entertaining the Jayco. Also at the end of the day we will nto be doing any real rugged off road stuff and a Jayco will handle what we want to do. I only really want the offroad version for the extra height and 4WD wheels. If I find an onroad cheap enough I'll modify it myself to be as strong as we need and easily as strong as Jayoc make them in the first place.

?Unfortunately there are few around at present in Qld let alone Coromals or Goldstreams which yes I'd prefer. I've even seen 2-3 yo on road models listed in yards for more than the new RRP price of the southern dealers.

We had a 2003 outback Eagle from new and it lasted not more than 12 months. There is only 2 of us and the pull outs are a pain in the butt unless you are set up for several days and even then they are average. We got rid of it for an offroad Golf pop top but unfortunately various circumstances now dictate we go back to something lower like a wind up. Could only fit the Golf under cover by swapping the wheels out to 14's so weekends away which is about all we can do these days became hardly worth the effort. Need something low that can fit under the house for storage, the Golf was about 5" too tall on 15" 4WD tyres.

Must be quick to set up and bed can remain made all the time so must be an internal bed version .

Had seen photos of a Coromal 410 onroad but the wife thinks it looks ugly inside so there's that one lost. Didn't like the space left by the microwave which was removed even though a cheap one would fill the space again. Also didn't like the timber panel door which I assume hides the griller, it's a risk and dodgy apparently.???? Basically it wasn't as pretty as the Jayco on the surface so it's out!!!! but she liked the look of an even older 440, only real difference it still had microwave in space, go figure. Also didn't like the candy stripe decorative strips on the outside hanging in the window openings.
