G'Day all,
Lantern going
well, just got one question to other owners:-
I notice on
mine that when I shut it off, it always loses its pressure before the next time I use it, compared to my stove which if I leave the pressure in it stays there.
Is this normal or do I have a leak?
Rgds

Does it loose that much pressure that it wont light at all or is the pressure just down a bit ???
If the first is the case it sounds like a leak,To be trueful i havnt even noticed it because when i need
mine again i just automatically giv another few pumps out of habit but it still has a fair bit of pressure in it anyway...

no it all goes, i can open it and no pressure there, maybe I'm not shutting valve off tight enough as I figured its a needle valve and didnt want to shut it too tight.
otherwise it operates fine.

I suspect it has a leak. My single mantle dual fuel will retain pressure for ages. Probably worth following up because if it is leaking pressure then the gas it's leaking is pretty inflammable!

I've got a Northstar and it holds pressure for weeks. I give it a few pumps anyway but often it doesn't even need that. Check your fuel filler cap. That may not be sealing fully or it may need tighening a bit harder.

ok thanks,
the vapour leaking was my concern too, will try to tighten fuel cap a bit more on tonights trip, if it still loses it, will take it back and ask to be replaced.
Its a good lantern, but a bit exy not to be perfect,
thanks for replies

Further update....
thought I had solved the problem but it was still losing pressure just taking longer to leak out.
Had enough, took it back to dealer who was very helpful spoke to coleman, who agreed to send a new pump for dealer to fit and try.
Dealer did so and it still lost pressure overnight so a replacement was given without question.
My new one is like the ones quoted above, it holds pressure indefinitely.
I also noticed its brighter than last one, when at full noise its pure white, previous one was white up till about 3/4 throttle then took on a slight yellow, which indicates that it has got a problem with the valve, and prob where it was leaking.
Anyway all fixed up and I would still recommend it as a superb lantern to anyone, super
bright and easy on the fuel so cheap to run.
The problem i had was adressed and fixed quickly by Coleman so good service there from them and local dealer.
