Been doing some caravan tyre kicking lately. Just wondering what brand of fullsize van people would buy again and what they would not buy.
after a full size van, not interested in a pop top. would be a road van or posibly a n offroader. not really sure yet.
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
Jayco get maligned by some, but are simply excellent value for money with outstanding warranty backup.
We've owned two and will own a third at some stage.
Cheers,
Jim.

Depends on how much you want to spend.
Do you want Shower
Toilet, do you want single or dual axle. These will all affect choices and how much you pay.
If you have a caravan club in your area get onto them and attend a meeting or two and have a chat to the members.
A list of NSW clubs is here www.caravanclubsnsw.asn.au/find_a_club.htm
Jayco is generally regarded as reasonable value, fit and finish can suffer a bit from mass production techniques but as said above they do try to fix things up.
Golf has a good reputation among caravanners, but pricey although they now have some less expensive versions
Boroma, coromal, future systems are all good.

I have had a Scenic for 3 years now - would not swap it for the world. Had Compass, Monarch and Jayco before that and this van makes them all look like matchbox toys!
Nothing - and i mean nothing! has broken gone wrong, fallen off or in any way given us problems. Cannot comment on warranty service as i have never had reason to use it -= but isn't that how it should be.
You hear all these Jayco owners raving about how the after sales service and guarantee is great - wouldn't it be better if they built them right in the first place??

Had our compass for a few years now and it has never been back to the dealer for anything. Great van, easy to tow and very comfortable.
Had a Coromal before and found it did not like rough roads(if you know what I mean).
Golf are built to a standard and some others are built to a price.
Check out the build quality of cupboards and
seat supports etc before you buy.
I reckon golf would be the best ROAD van built, I just can't afford one.
Kedron make a pretty good off road unit.

Paul, If you get any full size sturdily built caravan, it will be heavy, so depends also on your tow vehicle. Depends also where you want to take it how sturdy a van you choose. We researched the so called off-roaders and found most had disclaimers, and were suitable for occasional trips off the bitumen - hardly off-road. Then we met some Queenslanders touring with a Bushtracker. One look at the chassis and how it was built, and my husband said Bushtracker or nothing. They don't come tougher than Bushtracker, and we have taken our on some pretty rough stuff. Ours is an older model than most, purchased 3rd or so hand, and is still in A1 condition. Dust proof is a bonus. It is comfortable and roomy, loads of storage space, has bathroom (which was not on our essential criteria, but i wouldn't wanted to go back to not having a shower now). You here some horror stories of many types of caravans when you are travelling, and also meet many people who are happy with what they have got and tour accordingly. Good luck with your research.

have a look at the A van full size models. Some very inovative features and at a very competative price. For my mind one of the best value for money vans on the market. Choosing a new van is a bit like choosing a new wife - by god there are some lovely models out there !
