Hi there, when changing gears I have noticed the revs are sticking up around 1000rpm, once I have depressed the clutch. This does not happen every time either.
I have tried turning the air con on and off during this happening and it doesnt change the revs.

Any ideas or theories are much appreciated.

Hi Brooka,
Have you got an idle up button ? This raises the idle speed of the motor for cold weather running.

Hi Col, yes there is an idle up button. I have checked that i havent knocked it when it happens, that was my first thought when it started happening.

Do you think it could be a fault switch for the idle up?

Cheers Brooka

Hi Brooka,
The idle up increases the revs to about 1000 rpm so sounds like it could be the switch . Does it idle high all the time or cut back to normal after a while ?
Had the same thing but turned out to be operator error. LOL

Once i have depressed the clutch it stays high for a few seconds then drops back as normal.
I have played around with the switch it seems to idle up okay when toggled in and cuts out straight away when toggle out.

Col where have your spotties been hooked into, for the high beam on/off control from your comination control switch.

Hi Brooka,
I drove an old white 9000 truck once that did a similar thing to what you are describing.
This was caused by the fuel filter blocking up.

Don't know if this helps at all, just a long shot.

Good luck

regards Frosty.

Hi Brooka, my HDJ79 which is much the same engine does the same thing, it has done it from new. I did ask the dealer about it and they say it is mormal. I also have a mate with the same truck as me his also has a delay in revs returning to idle. My thought is that it may be to help give smoother throttle control when driving slowly over rough stuff.
Regards Ken.

My '79 does the same thing, after a while you learn to take the foot of the accelerator slightly earlier before depressing the clutch. I assume it is a anti-pollution thing.

It does not hang at 1000 rpm though, just takes a little longer to return to idle

Hi Brooka,
Sorry for the late reply went away .
I bought a NANE wiring kit from ARB $30-$40 ? If you have the basic elect knowledge then it is very easy. I cut the high beam wire and joined the relay wire into the join and run power off the aux/battery . I am no electrician but found it very easy.
