Was wandering around the
Newman Shopping Center on Thursday and as looked into Retravision I spied an Engel Generator for $1100 , was pleased to see MADE IN JAPAN on the sticker, so thats the brand I will purchase when the day comes.
On browsing the internet I come across this website from
Geelong,
check out the impresive presentation at the bottom ,

These people sent me a Honda EU20, landed in
Perth, for the advertised price of $1850. Including freebies and 5 years warranty.
Everyone locally was quoting full rrp of $2299.

Have to agree with Transient, we also brought a Honda EU 10i from them at the
Sydney Show last week, paid $1500 and we're getting $200 cash back from Honda.

Hello All
You blokes must be made of money ! At the risk of having a bucket of scorn poured over my head , I will mention my $98 GMC850 . After the last cyclone took out the power in Hedland , I connected the GMC up to a big two door fridge/freezer , a chest freezer the TV and a light . Topped up the fuel at 8PM , it was still running at 7AM . During the day it would spend about five hours at a friends place for his fridges . Power was out for four days . My load was near the limit because I had to run the TV without the DVD player . When camping in company with Honda generators , the Honda at 15mtrs was the same noise as the GMC at 20mtrs . The Hondas are fine machines and one day I may have one , but I will still wonder if it is worth 10 times as much as the GMC .
I will concede that the GMC is a bit bigger , a bit ugglier , a bit heavier and slightly harder to start [ it's beginning to sound like its' owner ] . But it does the job and I don't have to chain it down and they won't break my car windows to steal it .
Yes it is 2.50AM and no I didn't have an accident in bed , they got me up for a job and then cancelled it .

All
well and fine mate, as for me , No i don't have a lot of money, that's why when I buy something I don't mind spending a bit more on an item that costs maybe 2 or 3 times more because I reackon it last 10 times longer thus save me wasting dollars replacing it , and when the cheapo does give it in it will more than likely be when you need it most .So while you GMC did a good job this time it might scrape through next time but I sure wouldn't be relying on it after that.

Does the GMC have the capacity to run sensitive electronic equipment like laptops, electronic 3 stage batt chargers etc ??? In other words, does it put out a steady 240V and 50Hz ??
If it does then I'm gonna go out and buy one !!!!!!

Nope and it sounds like a VW without an exhaust system LOL.
For $98 I guess its value if it keeps going and you dont have to listen to it

They sound OK . It's the same hum as the Honda under good loads , but you can tell from the volume that it doesn't like the microwave . Its ability to run sensitive equipment may depend on the individual auto throttle and what other heavy surge demands you have on line . Probably sensible to switch off the fridge and deep freeze when powering the sensitive bits . Surge protectors may be the way to go , or perhaps DC and
inverters . By construction it is pure sine wave so the answer is probable how
well you set up and maintain the auto throttle . The auto throttle on
mine responds instantly .

Hi Rotord, I employed the same thinking, however my was the GMC 750W , worth a gamble at $98 , sadly it didn't stand the
test of time , would not have put 5 tanks of fuel through it , was just on 12 months old when it expired, was replaced under warranty was told it would be the 850W as the 750W was no longer being imported , so far looking good. A couple of weeks later a 1000W four stroke unit turned up delivered to the door , checked up and they are $379 to buy. Was never asked for the old one back either.
