Sounds like you handbrake is over adjusted.

Jack up the wheel take it off, move the adjustment hole to the bottom, if you don't have an adjusting tool a flat head screw driver will do.

Loosen the adjustment, then adjust up untill you can feel it bind, then turn back 3 movements.

Cheers Steve.

How tight is the handbrake lever? Had same problem once and just loosened it off a bit and problem solved. Either way it will undoubtedly be the handbrake that's the cause.

Or if its a cable set up, it could be siezed, kinked, on that side.

If your callipre isn't letting out enough you can always remove the squeal shims.. 80's aren't known for having noisy brakes and I have taken mine out with absolutely no effect on the braking..

The new pads will obviously be a lot thicker than the worn ones and the new discs don't leave a lot of room as they are at full width...

I am thinking that your callipres are a bit sticky so start with the shims and go from there...

Could be as simple as getting a small G clamp and pressing your callipers all the way in so that any grit or whatever is moved aside and they may work as good as new.. could mean that you will have to get the callipers reconditioned also which is about $100 each..

Hope it is just the handbrake adjustment though..

Cheers
