I find it easier from the west because fewer vehicles travel in this direction and even though its a little steeper, the approach to the dunes is not as chopped up from people with too much tyre pressure or trailers.
The
Spring Creek Delta can take a little while to dry out after rain. From what they say in the deset parks bulletin, you can do a loop from
Birdsville and maybe come out along the K1 Line at Clifton Hills.

Have done West to East in the Suby, that is the easiest way as the dunes are a lot steeper on the eastern side. I think about 75/80pc of crossings are done from the west. We only met powerful 4WD's going east to west. ( or very lightly loaded ones ). Cheers "D"

I just did French Line west to east last week and it was all open but there may have been rain since. The
salt lake heading north from Poepell Cnr to QAA was a little muddy but easily passible. The visitos book at Poepell Cnr showed about one vehicle a day on average in last weeks. Spoke to a german who had just done the
Rig road and he said it was difficult to get across teh dunes.
Good Luck
Sean
