When we last travelled this road in August '06, the road crews were making good progress bitumising it. I realise that they would stop work during the wet so I was wondering if anyone has travelled it recently and know how much of it has been completed?

We'll be going up there again this August, this time with the camper trailer in tow.

My Parents just got back from there (last week) in Dad's 'never been offroad' 80 series. They said the road was great. Still not much of it is bitumised but if Dad went there, then I would think that anyone would.... Might change by August though...

Tom, If you have not been up that way before then check out Middle Lagoon on the way. I liked that place the best of all the spots up to the cape.

Sorry Tom. It was the old blind eyes acting up again. Kiwi Kia, Middle Lagoon is where we're heading! We are staying for a month. Heaven on Earth I reckon.

Cheers,

Russ.

Hi Russ, I liked the Cape area but some how Middle Lagoon seemed a bit more down to earth for the 'ordinary bloke'. Also, if the wind got up on the ocean side you could scuttle over the to the lagoon. I wasn't there long enough to see any fish caught but who cares :-)) Have a good trip.

G'day Russ, i'll be heading up there in August too! I think our booking starts about the 4th. This will be our second trip up. Re: Middle Lagoon, I don't think we visited that last time we were there (Sep 03), I think we might have to call past and check it out. Might see you there!

G'day Fleggy,

What a coincidence!. We're in Broome overnight on the 2nd August (so we can catch the Pigram Brothers in concert), then on to Middle Lagoon on the 3rd August.

We're tentatively booked there until the 24th August but will stay longer if the weather is OK. Then we'll meander up to Halls Creek and down the Tanami Rd to the Alice.

As you say, we might see you there. See our profile for piccies of the rig and keep an eye out for us.

Cheers,

Russ.
