Yes, you need two permits, one for the WA side and one for the NT side.
You can download the permit for the NT side from the Central Land Council website (www.clc.org.au), fill it in and fax/send back.
For the NT side, you need to ring the Ngaanyatjarra Council on 08 8950 1711.

Tim ,

I filled in a form on line for the WA side and it was lodged straight away . However they said there could be a delay for this area . I faxed off a form I downloaded for the NT side .

I am coming back down through there July 11 .

Willie .

Donnnnny,
Others can answer my point, I am sure, but I am under the impression that the road now bypasses some communities that it once went thru, and permits are to enter these communities, not to travel past. Perhaps you don't need the permit if you do not enter.

Donnnnny,

You do need the permits. Central Land Council for the NT part and DIA for the WA side. www.dia.wa.gov.au and www.clc.org.au

When we got our permits last year it took about two to three weeks all up. The NT one was quickest to get.
