I was thinking of travelling from
Alice Springs to Townsville early May and was wondering if anyone has travelled on the Sandover Highway recently. It is not a holiday I just need to know the Quickest route and what the road conditions are like.

Bart,
by far the quickest way from townsville to the alice is across the
plenty highway,i go over every year for the finke desert race and find it by far the best way to go.
Don't be put off going across the
plenty highway by paying to much attention to the horror stories ( eg tyre shredder etc ) as have been across 4 times in the last 4 years and never had a flat.
