I read somewhere that gu springs will give a gq a 1 1/2 lift. Can anyone confirm this? What other improvements in suspension are on the gu?

I stuck a set out of a petrol GU in my 3lt petrol GQ and it came up just under an inch, my old man still has the ones I put in his 4.2 diesel GQ, they came out of a GU 4.2 TD and lifted it 20mm.
The ride is much better than the GQ springs, takes the 'Queen Mary' body roll out of it as the shocky's are better technology as well, it's much more stable and 'confident' over undulating surfaces and round corners.

G'Day,

I was told you would get about 1" due to the extra weight of the GU.

I bought a set of aftermarket 2 1/2" lift springs for my GU.

When I compared this with the original height the rear was 4" higher and the front 3" higher.

"What the!"

Until I checked new height against mates new GU. Turns out it really was only 2 1/2" higher, the extra came as a result of my orignal springs sagging.

I now believe it has as much to do with newer springs as the difference in models.

Plenty of "as new" standard springs around for almost nothing. Well worth changing to get a small improvement.

Hope this helps

Rolande
