I am looking for a quiet camping spot within 1-2 hours drive of Rocky for the upcoming May long weekend. Don't need any facilities and definitely don't want a caravan park! Looking for some small piece of bush or spot of land suitable for camper and a small fire for 2 nights. Any ideas???

Hi K15s , Blackdown tableland comes to mind,it is west of Rocky ,the turnoff is west of Dingo well sign posted, we have not camped there yet, however did a day trip there at xmas seemed like a good spot, I think you need to contact the ranger at Duringa to book, would be getting fresh up there by May. I'm sure other forumites will be able to help with more info.

see ya

Hi ,what about Serpentine creek/Lake Mary which is between Yeppoon and Rocky?. There is a camping area ,no facilities though and right beside a long system of laggoons /creeks .You can also swim there and use an open fire,I have camped there many times with the kids as it is in close proximity to home.It is also quite a pretty spot with plenty of bird life and the odd fresh water Barra. Ferns hide away at Byfield is also a nice spot,it has creek camping areas as well for about $12 a night I think. You can also use the restaurants facilities if you wish and have assess to canoeing ,tennis courts ,pool ,ect......Cheers Scott

K15s, head out of Rocky toward Yeppoon and hang a left onto onto Artillery Road which is just after the point the double lanes return to single. Head down Artillery a few clicks and hang a right, maybe a sign posting "Hendersons B & B", drive another coupla clicks and hang a right again and follow the stream along and pick a nicespot...it aint that long so go to the end and come back so as you get a goodin'. Oh and although it's gettin a bit cool, take the rod and a few lures and have a go for a Barra at Sun up and sun down...never know your luck as they are there!
Enjoy
