Haydon and I are flying to Cairns on 20 May and returning 27 May (honeymoon before wedding) and are wondering if there is anywhere safe in Adelaide that we can leave the wagon while we are gone. Also what are the must see things in Cairns and suggestions for a place to hire a car while we are there? Thanks in advance for any information.

There is a mob in Adelaide that we use called Airport Security Parking. They are based on Richmond Rd Richmond and their phone number is 8351 7033.
We use them whenever we go to Adelaide and are flying out. You need to be there 1 hour before the flight and they drop you at the Airport and pick you up when you return. Cost I think was around $16 per day. Car is in locked wharehouse and under cover.
Good value and peace of mind for me.

There is long term parking available at the Adelaide Airport. Very popular and well patronised. Link

Can't help with Adelaide car storage, But...
Places up here to visit/do from here (Cairns):
- Esplanade
- Many good restaurants & Cafes in CBD area
- Kuranda Rail & Skyrail trip (I can get the kuranda rail trip for $5 instead of $35 thru locals deal & and have done this for non-locals before)
- Day trip to the Reef - Ocean spirit is a good one - worth the $$'s
- Port Douglas - great 1hr drive up the coast.
- Cape Tribulation - further up from Port Douglas, over the daintree river "rainforest meets the reef
- Mosman gorge - on the way from Port Douglas to Cape Trib
- Cruisey drive up around the tablelands, if time permits

As far as a hirecar goes, best deals are usually with the main companies.
There are numerous older car places but they are usually only $5-10 cheaper for a heap of S##t, and some operators are shady. Try this website for the dates you are here.

Thanks for all your help and we will certainly follow up closer to the due date. Hope the weather is going to be nice for us. Currently raining here and we even had a power outage last night for an hour. We got a holiday deal when we purchased our shed (pay 3 nights get 3 nights free) that had to be used by July 1. We get married on 14 July hence the honeymoon before the wedding. 2nd marriage for both and been together 11 years. 5 kids between us (girl 16, girl 18, boy 21, boy 22, girl 23) Hope everyone has a great weekend. Ta Judy.

Your question helped me as we are looking for somewhere to store our vehicle in Adelaide for 6 weeks, I knew about the Secure parking atthe airport but not the warehouse one.

As for car hire in Cairns, go for the main hire firms as we hired an old banger and it broke down before we got to Port Douglas!

What to see around Cairns? On honeymoon, maybe just your hotel room!

cheers
