Hi Guys, just come back from a drive down a corrugated road in the GU and while I while driving the interior light kept flickering on and off as well as the door light on the dash. Yes all the doors were closed. Stopped when I got back onto sealed road. Has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks in advance.

My sensor in the rear barn doors is a bit sensitive sometimes, sounds like you have got the same....go and wiggle them one by one and see which one might be the problem.

Cheers Stefan

Dear bunny huntin,

Sometimes the barn doors at the back can be closed but the light switch is not activated. This rarely has happened to me but by re-closing the back doors (usually it is the large barn door) the switch is activated. It seems as though the switch is very finely adjusted.

Thanks boys, just went out and checked and it looks like it's the small rear barn door. Now I've just got to try to fix it.

One more question, does water leak out of your rear window washer when you park on a hill? Mine empties the washer bottle if I leave it there too long. Just wondering if something's stuffed on it or if that's how they are.
Thanks again

G'Day,

The fix for the rear washer leaking is to add an extra piece of tube up into the "D" pillar next to the large back door.

Remove the jack and tools, you will see the washer tube, cut into this and push the extra up into the space between the interior and exterior of the body. Just be sure the tube is the same size, and you may have difficulty getting plastic connectors to fit tight into the standard tube.

Now when you park on a hill the washer tube will still be higher rear than front and so no more leak.

Hope this helps

Thanks Rolande, I'll have a look and see what I can work out during the week. I just thought maybe the motor was stuffed and letting the water through when it shouldn't have been.

G'Day,

No worries, its a known problem, same as the interior light question.

Also have a look at the striker bar on the "B" pillar.

If it is lose the door moves and the light flickers. Happened in the Troopie so it is bound to happen to a Nissan. :))

Mine did it off and on for a while. We could actually here it let go if we were litening and once we got to know what it sounded like.

I fixed it by spraying the top latch on the large door with WD40. Problem has not come back.

Same thing happened to me mate. The rear main door is sensitive to movement and in standard form can move up to another 3mm further in before stopping even when the door is closed.

To fix this problem for ever go down to woolies and pick up a pack of cheapy circular adhesive carpet patches (normally put on stuff to stop it marking whatever surface it sits on) and cut to fit over the end of the sensor. This pushes it in about another 2mm and prevents it cutting in and out making the lights flicker on the dash. If the carpet piece comes off then get some super glue out to make sure the little bugger cant again.

Gave me the absolute $hits too.

Yeah I think that's what it is because I wriggled the bottom of the small barn door and the light started flickering. From what I could see now the sensor on the small door needs to get pulled out a little bit (exactly what you just said) but I just didn't know if you could adjust the length of the sensor once you take it off the door. So if the length can't be adjusted, I'll end up doing what you suggested.
Thanks heaps,

I had this problem also ,

The problem is if you are wiggleing the small door it has to be moveing the big door , its very difficult to tell whats actually going on .

The first thing I tried was putting something to pack out the switch on the small door . This didnt work .

After a bit of messing around I found the lower catch of the larger door had been adjusted too far in , the catch looked like it was hooking up but wasnt fully , so sometimes the large door was only latched by the upper latch . The door switch is in the upper latch and I couldnt find any adjustment in the Gregorys manual.I adjusted the bottom striker plate ( ? ) out by small amounts until the light didnt come on any more .

Hope this helps you out .

Glenn.

Mine does it on corrugated roads and it used to annoy me, but now I know what the problem is, I'm quite happy to let it be.
