You will love Botswanna & Nimibia. We did it 1999 for a month and just had a great trip. It is a real buzz seeing the wildlife. Etosha park in Namibia is great with heaps of elephants etc. The desert areas of Namibia are really desert, not like our deserts and the sandhills are huge. One of our group took his snow skis and boots and we all had a ski down but it took nearly an hour to walk to the top first!!!
Enjoy, I envy you.

Thanks for the info Ian, I can't Ski on snow so best give the skiing a miss : )
Its our first trip to Africa so not sure what to expect really, have done quite few big trips in Oz including Simpson but you don't have to worry to much about wildlife here. We are hiring a 4X4 Hilux with camper on the back & plan to stay with the vehicle as much as poss as we have made no bookings. Did you find you had GSM coverage in many places or is Satellite the only communcation once away from the major towns?
Cheers
Mark

The only Sat Phone available was as big as a briefcase with the whole lid being the aerial. I'm sure a small one would work these days. Good luck.

Thanks Kerry, Looks like the option to buy might be feasable if short term plans are available.
