Hi all,

Has anyone tried TJM Series 2000 shocks and progressive rate coils in a Jackaroo? I'm looking to raise the rear by about 50mm and get a bit more control of the rear end. Large loads and towing are not considerations for me.

I was originally planning on Rancho 9000 shocks and ARB progressive rate coils. However, it seems that the Rancho's are now copping a bit of flack for their lack of durbaility both here and in the US. Also the TJM coils are about $80 a pair cheaper than the ARB coils.

Any feedback or suggestions?

Thanks,
Savvas

I have replaced the rear coils on my 2000 td Jackaroo with TJM progressive rate coils about 2 years ago. They gave me about a 50mm rise but after a trip to the cape and general running around , they have sagged about 25mm.Not knowing a lot about springs but the progressive rate seems a waste, for as soon as the vehicle weight sat on the coils the progressive turns were compressed until the heavier turns came in to play.I have also replaced the shocks with Ranchos 9000 but I have not given them a good workout yet.4 weeks to go till the 12 week trip to the Centre,Kimberleys and Top End in my T Van.That should test everything.

Dear Savvas,

My Jacka is approaching 85km and with a complete ARB susp upgrade is practically shot. The suspension has been great however, especially through the Simpson. Have just placed an order for a complete Rancho 9000x setup including steering damper and torsion bars.
Is this the set up you have and how is it performing?

Hi Jacka,

My suspension is still stock. I'm looking at upgrading now since I believe the standard shocks have started to die. I'm at 62000k now.

Trying to figure out something that will give me a relatively smooth ride on bitumen, while minimising a twitchy rear end when offroad.

Are you saying the vehicle is shot, or the ARB suspension upgrade?
