What’s the best option (or combination) for increasing the power to a TD Troopy?
1. Intercooler
2. Chip
3. Exhaust
Had the usual dealer advices but need some good old ExplorOz
feedback.
Has anyone been down this track with a TD Troopy?
Cheers
John

Hi
John and Kym,
Great to see you're on the road and sooo many changes.
I have gone from 1HZ troopy that you saw to a TD 79 series. We chipped the TD with the ARB device. Very happy with the result but we don't have to tow the Bondi Baths behind us. Anectdotal advise from some wiser is that they got as much from the exhaust upgrade as they did from the chip, but i haven't done the exhaust yet.
Nice to see you discovered Rules Beach - a magic place for us.
We recently got a contract with Hema Maps to do their digital mapping data so life is good for us. Still continue to do the seasonal work at Mt Dare. We will have to arrange a meet in the next millenium!
Cheers

Yes that'd be nice but the figures are showing they're not as grunty as you'd think.

Hi
John
Did you ask this a few weeks ago? :))
I have a D'tronic and am very happy with the results. No engine temp increase that I've noticed.
Regards Lyndon

Maybe a real good tune-up will find a few horses?? I had
mine done about a month ago and it did make a dramatic difference.
Both with noticeable power increase and better fuel consumption. The first 600k I got 11.9l/100k. The next 500K I drove very conservately and got it down to 9.84l/100k.
It's a 1HZ/Turbo.

John,
How about gas injection for something else to think about??
Re the new V8. Drove one afew weeks back. I've driven an empty TD Troopy and as you know own a 4.5 petrol one. The V8 is very, very, very good. Probably on par with 6.5 chevs I've driven for grunt down low BUT it will rev much more easliy-like our petrol. Eg 2nd gear off the lights turning right, no way I was game to keep my foot buried.....I'm putting money in the piggy bank as we speak :-)

G'day Matt
Thanks for your email the other day.
Looking into the gas thing, cost wise might end up cheaper.
Maybe I should drive the V8 just in case :)
Hope all's
well with you both.
