Good evening mates, I' m back in the forum for those who remember me asking question about buying a 4wd in Oz. Well now I'm the owner of a great Mitsu Challenger 2001 Auto. Randomly the 4wd lamp flashing even though I haven't engaged it. I also experienced the Orange "LOCK" lamp. I've searched in the forum for previous post but I haven't clear understood if this is a big issue or not. By the way I live in Southport,QLD, do you guys reckon that my Chally needs a mechanic ?

Please Challenger's owner share some experiences.

Thanks 4 your attention

Vanni

these are the same as pajeros, with a series of switches on tne box and transfer, aswell as one on the diff, which runs to a solenoid on the r/h guard..

big question is which one/ones are the problem
switches are between $60 and $100 each and the solenoid about $150
get a sparky to check them and go from there
most mitsu dealers keep all in stk as this is a common fault

good luck

they are not easy to diagnose... most dealers i've seen run through the set until they find which one is the problem. just don't let them cahrge you excessive diag time or for too many switches, as some do

Not sure where the problem is.
Normally the lights flash during the change after selecting 4wdh or 4wdlc, until the change is done. Could be electrical.

Try these web sites - a lot of info available.

Victorian Pajero owners club - try the forum.

Also try the mitsubishi pajero owners club in the UK.
Some good techical articles and FAQs as well as a forum.
They have a few articles on the 4wd selection system and debugging.
