Morning all, we were just going through the maps for our trip across the
gary junction rd & was wondering if anyone know, do they still use the 8x8 truck to deliver fuel to the dump on the canning,
well 33 ???
If so how do they get the truck there, is it via the Kidson track or do they use the private road on Anna plains station ???
If it uses the kidson track then the track itself would not be too overgrown would it ???
Thanks.

Hi Rod M
There is a Aboriginal Community
Kunawarritji near
Well 33 - that sells fuel and basic supplies. The fuel is delivered via the track from Telfer and Punmu.
I haven't travel the whole of the Kidson but have been told it isn't overgrown and is
well defined.
The 8X8 truck still delivers fuel to
Well 23 Fuel dump but that is from
Newman Via te Tallawanna Track.
cheers

ahh right, the fog is
clearing, wasn't sure where the fuel dump was on the canning but it makes sence now.
We wern't thinking of using the Kidson unless it was the track used buy the fuel truck. We will head out past the
mine to
Marble Bar.
Thanks.
BTW anyone know where I can get a copy of "fuel dumps for dummies" ;-)

The Kidson wasn't too overgrown last June/July. You still had to get out and remove vegetation in
places, and there were plenty of scratches on the vehicle. It was
well defined but relatively slow going. Watch out for the ruts around the dunes, and sudden wash a ways, especially since there's been a few cyclones in that area since then. It's basically a two day journey.

will most definitely be not heading that way, if it's a tight squeeze in a Toyota imagine the gouges we would get in a Hino.
Thanks.
BTW nice pics.

Rod, most of the scratched were from bushed up to around 3m high. Not much solid in the way.
I'd suggest going across from Neuman, its pretty corrigated but more mainstream I believe. That way you can refuel at Well33 community (expensive but ya gotta have it ). The rest across to Alice is a doddle unless its been raining, 2 days from Well33 to Alice.

we're lucky in that we don't need to get fuel along the way, a fill up in Alice should see us to
Broome before doing the Kimberly.
While I don't doubt we would do the trip comfortably I don't fancy staking such a big tire way out there. The road to Telfer will do just fine.
Thanks

Yer the road out to Telfer is still a very rocky road (travelled in 2005) by now the road from
Marble bar to talfer should have been painted black and a nice road

There has been good rain on the Kidson Track in the last few months so the growth in the centre of the track may be up . Talk to Sandfire Roadhouse , they would know .
