I just sold my 2000 4.2TD (which I'd owned since brand new), for $23,000-. It had a ARB winch bar (no winch), dual batteries and additional wiring etc, Safari Snorkel, towbar etc. But it had done 212,000klm.
Most of the "extras" you listed are standard equipment; but I'm not quite sure what "sports instrumentation" means?
$30K is probably a bit over the top, but then again it doesn't have too many klicks under it's belt. If you like the vehicle and intend to keep it for quite a few years, then I would say go for it. It will go for yonks.
Check underneath to see if there is any signs of it having been abused off road.
Good luck......

Check out post 44990, just yesterday i think, similar vehicle 1999 GU 4.2 td, the general view was around $27,000 but Roachie may be right, it really depends on demand but the 4.2 with low ks is a good bargaining tool.. Michael

The 2000 4.2's also had the 5th gear problem (as I found out on mine). Could be worth checking if the previous owner had probs with it. If it had never towed, the problem would most likely not have come up.
As said, most of the "extras" were standard on that model.
If in WA, you could possibly have to pay something around that price. Better s/h prices over east.

I've just bought (well, take delivery on Thurs morning) a 2002 GU III Patrol 4.2 t/d ST for $36k. It has 119000 kms on the clock, has dual batteries, rear drawer system, milford barrier, ARB winch compat bullbat, sidesteps, etc. I was a bit nervous at first about the dollars being spent on a 5 year old car, but realised I wasn't able to find anything else with that motor for under that. According to the prices you guys are quoting, sounds like I've bought on about the right money (although my financier's database puts the vehicles value back to about $29k - just goes to show how good these databases are).

Based on what Zad has said it looks like you might be on to something. It is about the same vehicle as Zad has boght but without the accessories.

Having previously bought a vehicle 2nd hand that was fully set up you have to ask, why did they set it up like that? The answer is usually that they did it to use it.

If you buy the one you have seen for 6g less it is less likely to have done much off road, therefore less likely to have been knocked about. You then have 6g to put on the gear you want.

I would have thought it to be valued at 23-27K. Check the 5th gear as it is a prob with this year model.

Cheers, Trevor.

out_n_bout,

This may be of some help, the more comparisons you can get the better!
We bought a 2004 GUIII ST march last year with 42,000 klms for $43K.
It came with ARB winch bar, no winch.
Kaymar duel wheel carrier, two spares, cargo barrier in spotlesss nick!
Had the diesel tuned by Berrima, changed the suspension and am very happy!!
Good luck, you can't go wrong.(with a Nissan 4.2)
Cheers
