I need 12v when the motor is running for my Jaycar auxillary battery controller. I could probably find one but what is the best place to look? The box is right next to the fuse box under the bonnet but I think everything in there might not depend on the key turned on. I would like to draw from there or the fuse board in the cab but I dont know where to get the bits to add a fuse point or how to fit.

Any clues?

Thanks in advance

Owen

Is this for a Lada or a Landcruiser? ;-)

G'day Owen, perhaps you could be a bit more explicit in your description of the Jaycar battery controller. Is it for a dual battery set-up or perhaps it is for a battery condition meter/gauge to tell you the rate of charge etc.

duel battery setup. Jaycar do or used to do a kit called auxirally controller. It was a project in Electronics Australia years ago by a bloke called Rob Evans. It isolates the cranker when the motor is off and controls the rate of charge according to state of the aux battery. All done with sensors and mosfets. I have the kit already constructedI picked up from a garage sale and I have the EA article which describes the construction and setup. A forum follower in these pages has suggested the wiper supply. Looks like the go so far.

thanks

You want IGN power, rather than ACC power. Benefit of picking it up from the wiper motor is that it is already fused.
