Just east of
Gary Junction on the GJT there was a burnt out vehicle on it's side. Does anyone have any knowledge of how it got to be there ?
TIA

I'd have to agree with you. But as it was burnt out, I was wondering if it was a local, or someone who found themselves with a long walk home. Not too many ex local vehicles along there, unlike the GCR.

Willie, I looked in vain for your rockhole. You certainly hid the track
well :)))

Aha!! Looks like the culprit making a quick getaway! We came upon this burnt out car too and took a photo. We were about a month later than you on the
Gary Junction Road.

Richard, just getting down that far is starting to become a hassle! And getting back up again is problematic. Must be time to start checking out c/t's...hmm...the T Vans look good, but oh the price :))

Yes T-Van would have been my choice, but whet for the getaway off road CV for the dirt roads..
And only take the troopy out in
the desert from now on after the CT broke down on the way out to
Well 33 Kidson

In 2005 we where travelling
perth, 80mile, Kidson,
Gary hwy, Connie sue, Cockebiddy,
Esperance, Home...
Well that was the plan . broke a shocky mount ever on the kidson or from the old Kidson meats the access road to K-mart found it around haft way, got out to have a p and a look around found the inner side wall of the Rh tyre shredded, on a closer look found that the mount had riped a hole in the chassis, limped in to K-mart and got some RHS welded into chaise and we went and had a look at the NW, that's the time it last rained in WA and we ended up stuck in the mud for three days (they closed the roads around us) but that's another story

footy
read your report and photos.. great. but a comment you made got me wondering, you mentioned being in 2H at 40kph for most of the trip and was wondering why you use this and not 4L when travelling in this country. I know every body has there own way of doing it, and I usually use low unless i can maintain more than 50kph. Just curious

Jim good to read that trip report again.
It brings back a few fond memories and I have to agree with Viv.
It sure as hell reminds me how much I miss being out there especially as
Melbourne is turning into it's cold wet and drab winter self :-(

Bob, you're right, it's another typo. Of course it was "L" not "H".

Richard, thanks for that :)) K mart much easier to pronounce and remember. I simply refer to it as
Well 33, which of course it's not; the
well being some km away.
When we were there in 06, they had a relatively new management team who we got along
well with. I wished them a lotta luck :))
