Hi All,
I have two questions for the experienced 4x4'ers.
1) What is a Dtronic system and what does it do for a 3.0 ltr diesel Nissan?
2) Which is the best company to deal with regarding extended warranties and how many extended years do they offer for a nissan?
Your assistance will be much appreciated. Thanks P&J

Genuine Nissan Warranty is the best option as it's basically the same as the factory warranty.

Something smells there with that dealer; he would certainly know about it.
Nissan do offer an extended warranty on their vehicles - I had one, paid about $900 for it, tho prices offered differ between dealers, some as low as $800, others over the grand. Definitely a Nissan warranty, tho it is underwritten by some external company. That doesn't concern the owner - you just deal with Nissan.
Until Nissan have definitely shown that in the long term the 3.0 problems have been cured, I'd be buying the warranty. I've got a 4.2, and the extended warranty paid for 2 turbos and a gearbox. So I got my money's worth out of it.

I think you should deal with a more reputable Nissan dealer (an oxymoron really lol) as they/he obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. I bought one a few months ago........or maybe I just did my dough ;-))

I nearly bought one for my 100 Series TD , from ARB today . Lucky they were out of stock - I would have bought it without doing a bit of a check around for a good price .
Does anybody know a competitive outlet for D Tronic gear ?
Willie .

I got one for $1500 from ARB (RRP $1595) and installed it myself. The 3" mandrel bent exhaust and the D'tronic make a big difference. Fuel consumption is looking better but still too early to confirm. In for a dyno tune tomorrow. :)

I went to Westend Deisel today and they took the vehicle for a
test drive and said it didn't need tuning. They didn't charge me anything either. :)

The Dtronics work
well, we have a DP chip in our Hilux and it made a hugh differance with no change in fuel usage and the Dtronics would be much the same.
With the warranty thing stay away from 3rd party extended warranties ( Network Warranty, 5 Star Warranty, Fourtran etc.), the best type to have and what we use are the ones endorsed by the manufacture that cover everything except wear and tear items but they cover everything that the new vehicle warranty covers.
They go under the name of like "Ford Bumper to Bumper Extended Warranty", I know Toyota , Holden and Mazda offer then so Nissan should to.
They cost about $1000 and the factory extended warrantys are worth it, it gives you 6 years of peace of mind and make sure you get road side assist.....for Toyotas it's about $400 for the warrant period.

Sometimes the extended warranties are underwritten by an insurance company. I used to work for an insurance company that underwrote the Toyota extended warranty.

ok my dtronic gives me much better bottom end performance with quicker get away and better passing pick up and costs me about 1 km per litre in extra fuel mainly cause of the added acceleartion being used more often - cost was $1500 fitted by tony moxoms in
brisbane - best after market accessory i have bought ever and i have a winch an air locker etc etc etc
ok my nissan extended warranty was i think 850 or $900 and is offered by nissan motor company itself thru the nissan dealers for 2 years and / or 50K kms - and worth every cent in my opinion - just for starters a bloody fuel pump for the nissan patrol 3.0 l td can cost up to $4000 new to replace and hey some do fail let alone and engine but we wont go there - etc etc
just my opinon see you greg

I use a similar thing in my 05 CRD KJ JEEP and was told by the JEEP dealer I was using at that time, that should any leetle thing go wrong whilst the subject chip was attached to the vehicle, and the said problem/s could in any way possible be attributable to the chip, then any claims of warranty were null & void.
The chip I use takes lest than 5mins to install and de-install.
A real easy plug & play gizmo.
