I am doing a Adel-
Innamincka-
Walkers Crossing-
Birdsville-
Adelaide trip in Sept. We will be towing an offroad box trailer and two camper trailers behind 3, 4WD.
I have been asked would an ordinary road caravan be able to tag along behind a L/crusier with us.
I am looking for experience and wisdom who may know the conditions.

G'day Cuffs,
If I were leading the trip, then I'd say no to the road van.
It could be done, but you'd be taking a major risk that the roads will trash the van. I don't enjoy a trip when I'm worrying about someone else's rig.
The western end is over stony gibber; then a variety of tracks, and then some small dunes as you approach
Innamincka.
Cheers
Phil

I would have to agree with Phil.
Just the corrugations on the Strez and
Birdsville Tracks would give a road van a pretty good beating, even if you go slow.
The
Walkers Crossing Track is a really nice run but I would not like to tow a road van along it. Like any unmaintained bush track it is very much at the mercy of the weather. There were a couple of spots when we travelled it that had washouts which I doubt a road van would get through. We had to be fairly cautious with a purpose built off road camper.
How many in the Cruiser? Could they throw in a couple of swags and travel without the van?

Walkers Crossing Track is closed at the moment, (a week ago), and opens and closes at the whim of wind or
water damage. Best to check with
innamincka a couple of weeks before.

I say no way,
The Innamimka end probably would not pose a real problem, but as you get in it deteriorates.
Been through there with our camper trailer, and loved it .
