Ok, they say you need to extend the breathers on the auto box as well as the diffs so no entry of water into the gearbox and blowing it up. I have just been under the prado for the last 3/4 of an hour and stuffed if I can see any breather anywhere for me to extend. They must have one ?? surely ?? Where ?? Regards steve M

I don't know about the auto but the manual doesn't have a breather it's on the transfer.

Try that.

Steve.

Hi Steve I couldnt find one on either. I havnt bought a manual on it yet so cant even look it up. They must have one to stop any pressure building up, not sure about transfer either. Regards Steve M

G'day
I'm no mechanic but wouldn't an auto gearbox breath through the dipstick. Which in my prado is quite high.

Sorry when I said manual, I meant 5 speed.

So on the 5 speed there is no breather as said its on the transfer.

But Tassie Dave has a point.

Cheers Steve.

Hi ya Dave I have no idea. I dont think so as if it could breath out the top of filler then it could also suck back in through I think ??. I'm no mechanic either so you could possibly be wright. Regards Steve

Hi there Dave so are you saying that the manual as in "book" is showing a breather near the bell housing for the auto box, or are you saying the "manual gearbox" has a breather at the top near the bell housing. What about transfercase !!! LOL. Regards Steve M

Thanks Dave at least I know what and where I'm looking. Just looks like I can extend the breather from the bell housing and not have to worry about the transfer case. Thanks for the info. Regards Steve M
