From Adel looking to travel to track trailer re confirm specs on are tvan, Jetstar have a sale on but land in Avalon, Track is in Bayswater. Can anyone tell me how far Avalon is from Bayswater and how much a taxi might be? Has anyone ever been to the Tract Factory? If so was it worthwhile? tks Lyndon

Avalon and Bayswater are about as far apart as you can get, I have no idea how much a taxi fare would be but you would be going from a long way west thru the city and them a long way east, Tullamarine airport is probably a bit closer but a hell of drive still.Hiring a cheap car for the day may be cheaper. Have a look at the drive at www.whereis.com, Rhys.

Avalon is halfway between Bayswater and Adelaide.......

A taxi fare is likely to be well over $100 - sorry I can't say exactly. It's 90km and travel time at least 1.25 hours - with one of our esteemed taxi drivers you could finish up travelling 150ks and 2.5 hours and $250 fare.

Lyndon,

I live not far from Bayswater. I have never caught a cab to/from Avalon but have to Tulamarine. That fare is around $90 each way to Bayswater. Avalon to Bayswater would be a cabbie's delight ie at least $200 each way I would think. Hiring a car from Avalon makes more sense or flying into Tulamarine at least. I don't know the factory you are going to but driving from airport to Bayswater etc is not complicated. All freeways / main roads. A Melways and someone to navigate is all you need.
Good luck.

According to TomTom Navigator the fastest route from Avalon to Bayswater includes the CityLink tollway and is 82.9km and would take about an hour and five minutes.
Tullamarine to Bayswater also includes Citylink and is 54.3km and would take about 45 minutes.

Take the travel times with a LARGE helping of salt as that is non peak hour times (no traffic) and in peak hour the trip from Avalon would probably be worst as when coming from Tullamarine you don't have to go on Citylink, you can get off the freeway at Bell St and drive around the top of the city to Bayswater. Plus the West Gate freeway from Avalon tends to get more congested in peak hour than the Tulla.

I'm not sure it would cost $200 but it would be significantly more than the Tullamarine fare (Taxi fares are distance based with an additional time based component when traveling under a certain speed).

Hi Lyndon, mate there's a reason flights are cheap to Avalon, its only good for Geelong residents. Even flying into Tulla would result in hefty taxi fares and a nightmare to try and get any public transport, ie skybus into city, train to suburbia, bus etc...

Yeah go the hire car option and do some sightseeing in the round trip.

Get on the bus to take you into The Spencer St Railway Station. Think its got a "wizz bang" new name like Southern Cross Station , but I could be wrong ,, might have just been for the Commonwealth Games

Sure you can get on one of our " ever reliable " trains or busses,,

Look it up on the net

Cheers Mate

Hi Lyndon

The trak factory is small , staff seem happy to help , they had been letting clubs do night visits and hold meetings in rooms upstairs providing coffee's etc.
