Stockton Beach is getting quite difficult to get up Lavis Lane. There was 4 of us. An 03 Rodeo, an 06 Hiux, my 03 Hilux and the Nav. The sand is very soft at the moment.
The Rodeo tried first and didn't make it. Next was the Nav, had tyres at 12 and to my surprise made it up first time. Dropped Rodeo's tyres from 18 to 15 and made it second time. 03 Hilux tyres down to 12 and after 5 tries got snatched up by a friendly Patrol driver. The other Hilux took the easy way round.
Fish were biting and caught a decent size fish whilst lunch was being cooked.
Lunch was cooked on the amazing Weber Baby Q. Best portable bbq ever. Only had it a week.
Drove down to the wreck for a quick look then had a play in the dunes for the rest of the afternoon. got ourselves into a few situations but managed to get out.
As you can see in the pics we also had a bit of fun on one of the little dunes. I taught the Nav how to fly. :) Left
the beach in the dark which was different trying to find the Lavis Lane exit.
You still do not need a permit to drive on
stockton as National Parks have not got the permits ready yet. When they do the only change they are making at the moment is the permit will last 12 months from the day it is purchased.
Anyway here are the pics from yesterday

Great pics Peter, I would love to be able to take photos like that, but I just dont seem to able to recognise whats would be a great shot and then organise myself to be in the right position to be able to take it.
I would also love to be able to have a nice camera to use, but finances and priorities dont seem to let that happen.
Great job, keep them coming please.

I can asure you at the end of August there will be many pictures being posted after a 2 month trip from east to west and back.
In the meantime anything else I think is relevent to the

Thanks Daza,
The Nav has still let me down more times than I have been happy with it although I must beef up the rear springs before i take it on my next journey.

Love the pics Peter
As Stefan said it would have been better than the 4WD expo @ Bankstown. Wish I were there.
How did the Nav go in soft sand? did it bottom out? did it get through OK?
You said on the last trip with us that you were not happy about the clerance, have you done anything about it? as the sand would have been a great test of it's ability, especially along Lavis Lane.
See ya, mate.;))
Colin. (12 sleeps to go, Ah but who's counting!!!)

I'm counting mate and I've still got 11 weeks and 2 days.
I was surprised with the Nav this time round. It managed very
well and whilst watching my Hilux come up Lavis Lane it was pushing sand so I can only presume that the Navara was but it managed to plow through.
I also had 200 litres of fuel in the back this time so maybe the weight helped.
The trip out west in July I will be carrying 340 litres of fuel, 120 litres of
water recovery equipment inlcuding 10 star pickets, which I think will be taking it close to the GVM. So to answer your question I will be doing something about the clearence just got to wait for my next cheque........
Am doing another
Stockton trip before the end of the month too but you will be off on aan adventure. How long are you gone for?

It's the gas Muzz.
Only had it a week and cooked Cutlets, one of my top 5 Lamb roasts eva, Roast chicken and steaks on the weekend. It is so portable and is so much better than the fire and ice....... I have found the fire and ice does not get hot enough in windy conditions.......
I recommend it.......

Yeah, mmmmm!
My brother told me all about this BABY WEBER his mate took on the last trip they did to Waroora (warra) station.
When we went to the 4WD adventure show we saw these
little red things that you put heat beads in and I thought, WOW, 99 bucks is pretty good, and took it home!
He laughed his tits off when he saw what I bought! hahahahah
He didn't say it was GAS!
