We have just completed a 12 months around Aussie trip in an Aussie Swag Challenger which has 3 annex options. We mainly used the 12' annex and only needed to fly screen and sides in bad weather. If you want to see photos go to www.flickr.com/photos/morleytravels to see the set up at various camps.

Hi Colin,
Must have been a blast !!
You're a braver man than I for tackling that 1 metre deep crossing into Tjenera with no
snorkel....
Cheers

On reflection probably a bit luck. Got
snorkel after talking to a few old hands from SA and they also told me about the tarp across the front of vehicle. I will be more cautious next time.

did u have any problems with the bikes (gears) getting covered in dust, as i would like to take ours but thought the bulldust etc. might be more trouble than it is worth?

No real problems with the bikes and dust just gave them a pressure
water blast when in towns with them and a bit of WD 40 cost us $85 each bike when we got home for new brake pads and cables. Definitely worth taking bikes as they allow you to go on some great rides.

Hi Colin.
Great photos, very jealous. Pleased to see you breaking droughts as you went. How did you find a year in a tent top type camper as far as storm protection and leak proof etc. I,m wringing my hands at the moment over a camper trailer of your style or one of the new Kimberly Karavans at only twice the price but no canvas.

We had plenty of rain on
Atherton table land and no leaks. Dust ingress was nil into the Aussie Swag, a bit in the truck on the leg
Karumba to
darwin but solved by adding a bit more rubber stick on strip plus a air vent on the roof to pressurise the cabin ( standard vent on boats cost $15 at yacht
chandler. Only problem is packing up wet but if you
camp again the same night no problems with mildew. Although the new Kimberly looks nice I could not justify the price and it would only be a propositiion if you lived in it permanently. You can buy truck & trailer for $48K on there about.

Darwin hospital in xray plastered and out all in 2 hours follow up service great. Cant knock the public hospital system.

I'll be bugged, I did the same thing in Feb 07 up at the Burdekin dam. I was releasing barramundi for the local fish stocking group and I slipped on the lake's edge. I broke it pretty bad. Is now 13 weeks and still on crutches. Go back next week and get screw taken out and start rehab then. Are you all OK now? Did it affect your trip much

Kept me in
Darwin for 8 weeks - 6 weeks in plaster then 2 weeks in
the pool to get it moving again. Missed the
Gibb River road as I was gorged out any way. But no problem climbing down the Karrajini Gorge and hiking in Bungle Bungles. Working as a Sports Massage Therapist and with a Homoeopath wife kept me on the right track for Rehab.
It fine now only few twinges on soft sand back riding the bike and surfing so alls
well. Depending where you are in Qld I may be able to suggest a good therapist to help you get moving again.
