Hello everyone - very excited, arrived
home about 30 minutes ago with the new V8 Toyota Ute. Had to follow the 'old fella'
home (he was driving the new ute) and I couldn't catch him - what's worse it was down from Cunningham's Gap and through the hills - he's just been in here skiting whilst I was trying to load the rig photo about how he didn't change gears the whole way through the hills. I have taken and loaded (hopefully) two photos of the Ute - also took a photo down into the engine to show where the Alternator is (Posts a week or so back). Old fella reckons definitely shouldn't be driven by anyone under 30 or on a P plate!
Hello to Mark and Sandy from GLendon
Camping area at Thane, near
Warwick (great place - and it's green). He and his mates are out in the shed playing with all the switches and dials - the inside doesn't really look any different from the old ute we have (19 years old) but the engine sure is heaps better.

Hi there Ruth, glad to hear you have picked up the new cruiser, great feeling picking up a brand new car/4by. I was at pedders
suspension today and they had three new ones in there, I presume fitting springs, shocks etc what for I dont know unless they have a contract with some one cause toyota dont normally use pedders. They wernt registered but all the base model maybe for the council or some thing. I cant believe that they still dont have factory air none of them had it fitted so presume that is still to be done. I did notice duel tanks looks like from the factory one under the cab the other right at the rear of chassis. I like the bonnet scoop as
well. They are gunna be a huge sales success I reckon. Anyway hope all goes
well and it takes you many
miles which I'm sure it will. All the best. Regards Steve M

Stephen, we had to have a/c added, also diff lockers, UHF, fuel tanks (2) are standard on this and the Troopie (but not on the Wagon) - we also have wider, longer and bows over (Ian's going to make the canopy this week). Think it came with a CD (oh wow) - oh yes, we had the two tool boxes added under the tray - BUT the spare wheel was in the tray because THEY decided we'd be putting it behind the cab - BUT they are wrong - it's supposed to be under but they couldn't work out how to do it with the extended tray!!! Guess there'll few things to sort out.

Willem, glad you are on-line, was hoping. Can't remember how to get a photo up as a rig photo (and don't say do a search either thank you, I've already had one glass of merlot). The boys are out in the shed leaning on the new ute - we still haven't found the spotties switch! And there's something strange on the right hand side of the dash - will have to look in the daylight.
At least this new ute might make him happy for a few days!!! LOL. The two photos as in my gallery.

The only reason he isn't still driving around is because he was hanging for a beer and after I made him pay for the Toyota he didn't have enough money to go to the pub and he had to come
home where he's got 10 cartons! While he was looking at something underneath his favourite cat hopped in the door he left open and now there's Birman fur in his new car!!! LOL. I got to have another merlot - the boys keep asking me to find things in the ute for them - they are old and their sight has gone along with their hearing and wits!

seat and 2 in the tray! (He's had a couple of Golds).

Hey V8 Diesel - how do? He reckons he can knock the Coolpower because he doesn't have to ever drive one again, so he says! He let me sit in it today and offered to take me shopping (??) - 30 kls to the shops. I went into the PO and could hear this noise - sounded like an F250 - you know, "throb, throb, throb" - he was suitably insulted when I told him that. Had to remind him three times about the speed limit on the way to town, just cruises nicely above the speed limit unfortunately. He's already cleaned the windscreen twice, spent the rest of today driving in and out of the shed just so he can hear it.
Hmmmm, and air start - that's be good.

V8 Diesel - he nearly choked on his cornies over that and said something about where you could put your 2 stroke. Then his mate called in early and they are sitting at the table reminiscing about how they used to drive them and what they did with them etc. etc. etc. - just what I needed at this hour! LOL. They could do some amazing shortcuts I'll tell you that.

Had a quick look at one the other day at the local dealership while picking up some parts. I didn't like the positioning of a sensor & some hosing low down in the front of the motor tho. I would have thought that Toyota, knowing what these things are used for, would have done better than that. Apart from that (
& the overprice of $15K) its not a bad vehicle.

Bros, you were up late last night - I packed it in at 11:30 but the mates were still having stubbies leaning over the back of the ute - it's littered (already) with empties this a.m. - how strange.
Funny you should mention about the flies - there aren't any down here, and yesterday whilst waiting in
Warwick we went into a fishing
shop and I suggested to old fella we buy a mosquito net to hang up during the day so when we drag the
camp stretchers over the place for the nanna nap at least the little dratted things wouldn't get us. Good rumour says they are in magnificent multiplication! It annoys me when I'm fishing if I have to wear a fly veil - it annoys me having to wear one at all.
If you are going to
Tully - you going outside fishing or in the big
dam, as
well?
Old fella couldn't sleep lastnight - was like a child who's been to the Ekka and ate too much fairy floss and dagwood dogs - worked out how to fix the spare wheel problem tho and just heard him telling the dogs he was taken them for a drive today! Good fishing old mate - we'll be back about end June.

This one wouldn't because he had the tray made 4" wider on both sides and 8" longer on the end! Driving behind it like I was last night - the ute looks like about 3 foot either side of the cab!

Ruth,
You just need to fill in the "comment"????? part of your profile to make the rig
pic come up.
My fee for this advice is 1x TDV8 Crusier. Had ANOTHER look at one today......
Tell me, could anyone find the oil filter, neither the salesman, myself or the mechanics new where it was!! Found something that looked more like a cartridge on the drivers side wheel arch that might have been it. The mechanics hadn't done their training was the excuse?? They sure go
well, imagine it with a chip, imagine the twin turbo coming in the new wagon!
Good on you.

Ah ha, Matt - that's right! Thanks, Matt. About the Oil Filter - what oil filter. Just looked in the engine, then looked in the Manual - nothing in the Index, so 'old fella' had to put shorts on (still in jammies) and crawl underneath. Came out and said - tell them they'll save lots of money not having to buy an oil filter. Thinks there is something underneath that looks as though could house one. He'll reply on 16th after it's had it's first service.
Interesting sticker on driver's door though about using the diff lockers - very important NOT to do more than 8 klm/hour whilst they are engaged. We've seen the results of plenty of people who obvsiouly haven't read the stickers on their vehicles - very expensive problem to solve in the SD.

Ruth D,
Yeah the veils are the go. The only other option is heaps of people, but you go there to get away from the multitude.
Going to fish the
Tully and Murray Rivers in the salty side and try and catch a Jungle Perch or Sooty Grunter in the fresh up the
Tully River or
Koombooloomba Dam.
Speaking of fairy floss they opened one of those giant Bunnings stores here last week and they were giving away fairy floss, so had to get some for the better half.
Here i am lined up in the queue with all the kids looking like a dork. The things you do to get a leave pass.
Cheers,

raffee, the intercooler is on the very top of the engine and looks about the size of a small solar panel - feels like a radiator top and bottom though thinner so water would just go straight through. Having said that, if I was passenger and driver attempting to go through water THAT deep I'd probably be screaming or swearing and definitely swimming! If it was 'old fella' and water that deep - he'd have the engine covered in a tarp. Actually, he's fairly conservative and we'd be camped until the water went down to wheel height or less (so that the carpet inside wouldn't get marked).
