Hi there all, we flew back into
Melbourne last night and Al has headed off to the outback challenge this morning.
Perth was great, but very tiring as Al was working so it was just me and the kids, but, I have to admit as a result of that I saw heaps more than I have in previous years.
Sorry I didn't get the chance to catch up with anyone while there but schedules were pretty full, we will be back there later in the year so perhaps then, Al will be back in
Perth in about 3 weeks and will be there for about 2 weeks and then
home for 2, back for 2 and will be doing that possibly for the rest of the year.
A few observations:
Perth has got some lovely buildings tucked away, I really liked the Town Hall which I didn't see on previous trips, or maybe I did, and just didn't realise what it was. We did two tourist tours, - the Tram and the Double Decker Bus both were very interesting. We went up to
Kings Park a couple of times which was great, we went up the Swan Bell tower, and that was more interesting than I thought it would be.
Perth is really easy to get around which is great when you have kids. Really enjoyed our trip around the Swan Valley - esp the Feral Brewary. Lots of personalised number plates in
Perth, some of them made me laugh, and some made me scratch my head. Bus drivers were really friendly and got used to seeing us most mornings.
The WACA was great though the kids thought it boring. The MINT was great, AQWA was great, Scitech - fantasitc - we had a brilliant day there. The Margaret River area, Busselon etc, was lovely, the weather got a bit bleak when we were at
Cape Leeuwin but that was ok, nearly got blown into the Oceans - it's all an experience.
Whiteman Park - what a treasure that is, the kids had a ball and we went to see the Birds of Prey show, that was maybe the most interesting thing we did, the woman who runs it trains Auzzie the Wedge Tail Eagle who flies around at Subiaco on Eagles game days, we met Auzzie too. Yvonne is very passionate about the birds, and it was a really informative show, if you've got an hour and a half to spare go and see it, I learnt heaps and was entertained the whole time,
well worth the $22 for a family ticket.
All in all a great time, the kids were taken with
Perth and looking forward to going back later in the year, though, it's good to be
home.
cheers
Lyn
