(post id 4480) Removed gearbox again today only to discover that everything was installed correctly.Spoke to supplier about lack of pedal travel and feel , was given measurments to check freeplays etc ,only to find everthing was ok.Was then told that sometimes you have to extend (lengthen) the mastercylinder adjustment rod or slave cylinder rod.Fingers on pressure plate are 5mm closer to clutch plate once mounted than std clutch hence less pedal travel and feel.Shouldnt have to do it but no choice now!!!

A mate of mine who's son had a double cab hilux diesel had clutch prob's and found when opening it up that the flywheel had an inner section with springs to help soak up some of the torque. The springs had gone. Just a thought but may be different to yours.

Apparently all Jap import surfs have this set up but aussie model 4 runner has normal type flywheel(ours has).
