Well I finaly got around to having a look at the new Landcruiser V8 4 door today, most impressed, The dash is almost the same as my Troopy , nothing wrong with that, it is functional and Familiar, I WANT ONE ,but at my age I don't want to get into debt again so looks like staying with the old one,
Doug

Go on - buy one.
Debts great. Have today - pay tomorrow.
If you fall off your perch, the kids can repay the remaining debt out of the estate. Ie super, life ins, property, shares etc etc list goes on and on. (After selling the vehicle)
Beats being the richest man in the cemetary.
You only get one life - Enjoy!!!!

Hi all,
well finally for the first time I’ve brought myself a new 4b, boy it was a hard discission, lots of
test drives, looking at specs sheets and lots of research. It came down to basically 3 4x4’s, Prado, Patrol and the V8 70 wagon and trust me it was so hard trying to work out which one to buy. The 3ltr auto Patrol was a very nice car to drive, solid as and good value but I wanted more power and I didn’t want to add too much after market accessories or power aids. The TD Prado was a beautiful car to drive man it was very comfy and the power not bad but the IFS at the front I wasn’t to keen on and it desperately needed a
suspension lift, some traction aids and better tyres. So it came down to the V8 70 wagon and yes it has a few down falls but what do you do for an example you can’t by a new TD 80 series anymore or a new patrol with more cylinders and power. Yes the new V8 70 has a low slung alternator, 90 ltr tank, rear leafs and it’s a little basic (which I don’t mind) but it drove really
well, smooth and effortlessly. The factory lockers are a great option (and on order) and if the diffs fail it’s straight back to Mr Toyota, because I didn’t modify anything and the car is designed with lockers
well what come back do they have?
Hopefully it’s due in a couple of months and I will keep you all posted on how it goes on and off road.
All the best,
Stamps

"if the diffs fail.....
well what come back do they have?" The first thing they may ask when you blow a diff is were you travelling over 8 kph (fast walk) as that is the maximum speed recomended by Toyota with lockers engaged. That pretty much means no diff locks to be used in sand or any gear above first high.
Good luck with the new bus.
Cheers Craig.......

Craig the speed warning is due to the possible heavy steering when the lockers are engaged and that obviously people may have difficulties controlling the vehicle particularly at higher speeds.
ARB also warn about engaging and use at speed.
But I know were your coming from over the get out of jail excuse.
