Hi Guys - Thank you to all who tried. My Prado is a 2006 diesel auto. I have checked and re-checked an there is only one drain plug in the sub (back)
tank and none I can find on the main
tank.
To empty the main
tank you can
1. take off the hose before the manual pump primer on top of the fuel filter and use compressed air and some rag around the filler to force the mixture out. (As suggested)
2. take the hose off after the primer pump and pump the fuel out. To pump out 90 litres (or it could be 87) takes about 1 1/2 hours, but you can do it. I just have!
Cheers, Trev

Wow, bet that took a whole load of worry off your mind?
You can breathe a bit easier now.
I had a guy at work who accidentally done the same fill job to the work car. What made it worse is that he rang me up (no apology) and demanded a hire car to get him home and made me arrange a tow to the Toyota dealer. For some reason I've never forgot that little incident :-)))
Thanks for the update and also thanks for the accidental Unleaded flush LOL.
Hope it never happens to me, but if it does I'm a whole lot happier knowing the process, esp for a Prado.
Cheers
Pete

Was filling up with diesel a few years ago at a servo just on the north side of
Brisbane.
Saw a hire bus (20 seater type coaster) over at the side syphoning fuel out of the filler.
Went over to see if I could help.
They had just filled up and realised thay had filled up with distillate, that is what is on the pump. They had been told by the hire mob to only put dieselene in. They thought they had done the wrong thing and were trying to get it out.
Took a few of us to persuade them into accepting that distillate is the same thing. They thought it meant kerosene or something similar.
It was very hard not to smile.

Years ago, pumps were labelled dieselene, diesoleum, distillate etc.
Now you only see them labelled diesel, maybe this is one of the reasons?

Trev,
I reckon that you will not need to buy mower fuel for a while??

Hi Stu - I put some of the petrol diesel mix in the Courier. It pings and goes about as fast as a slug. The main thing is the Prado did not get any unleaded. Cheers, Trev
