I have a Landcruiser 100 4 speed automatic turbo. Its done 150,000km. It's developing a strange quick vibration that happens just before it changes down a gear going up a hill. and disappears as soon as its changed gear. Haven't noticed it when driving aggressively.

When was the Auto last serviced? It sounds like it may need a bit of adjustment and a fluid change.

It is the lock up clutch playing up in the torque converter.
It is a common thing in the 4 speed autos. I get an additive from my automatic transmission guy to add to the auto oil. I can't remember its name but if you want to email me tomorrow at lonards at bigpond dot net dot au I can find out for you.
It is about 35 bucks but works a treat.
The other symptoms are a surging feeling after about 60 km/h.
