Has anyone experience with hand cranked powered appliances. I have been looking at the Eton hand powered 3 in 1 radio, flashlight, mobile phone charger. We often travel outback and I was looking for applicanes which can be solar powered or hand cranked. Any suggestions.

Actually went over to Harvy Norman to buy a DVD Player Burner with Hard drive , I walked out with the $500 cash still in the pocket because I seen none made in Japan , all from China or Indonesia, So i'm still looking , I have a TCL TV/Monitor , I'm looking at it now , I have to listen to the TV via the computer speakers because the inbuilt speakers have gone all scratchy , more Chinese crap I got caught with , Was toying with getting a new LCD TV , I seen a huge Panasonic the other day a neighbour got , made in Japan but the Panasonics I seen yesterday were Thialand.

I remember about 15 years ago my uncle had to use a lot of VHS Tapes and he said way back then just buy the Japanese ones nothing else....Still seams to be the case !

I would go LG know a few people who have them and are happy (dont know where their made though) I would avoid Sony because their customer service is virtually non-existant and products are becoming poorer by the year ! Their price these days dont reflect this.

cheers

I think they have their place,a friend has a torch where you shake it up and down, now to put that under your seat for that rainy day where the battery one fails,i'll shake it till the cows come home for a bit of light !

If you can spare the cash why not

cheers

Not experienced with that exact model. I have one on the shelf in front of me with flashlight and radio... dynamo/hand cranked and solar powered. Your post reminded me that it was still there!

Lots of cranking for not much results. It's covered in dust!

I also have a hand powered mobile phone charger. Lots of cranking to charge for a few seconds only.

The model you are looking at could be good.... try before you buy. Easy.

Let your phone go flat and have a go at charging it in the store.

Cheers Royce

Doug, Most of the appliances are made in China by the japanese and koreans as their own labor costs are too high. I think they make BMWs there now also but its not all crap. Im old enough to remember the "Jap Crap" but if you see anything made in japan these days, you consider it good quality. The chinese have come ahead in leaps and bounds and it will get better and better in the very short term.. Michael
