G'day Folks
We are looking to take a Hilux 3.0TD across the Simpson in October (
Simpson Desert Bike Challenge support). Average consumption around town / travelling is 11 litres / 100km. Any advice on what to expect in
the desert probably with about 450kg load of gear, water etc
Thanks

Hi
John,
As a rough guide I have usually taken my onroad fuel consumption and then doubled it.
Eg; On road 11Ltr/100km
Off Road 5.5Ltr/100km
This works OK for me but there are so many other things that may effect fuel consumption;
Soil type, weather conditions, vehicle capability, vehicle load, driver expertise, even atmopheric temperature and humidity.
Good Luck with your trip.

Double the figure or divide.
Eg; On road 11Ltr/100km
Off Road 5.5Ltr/100km

Hi Olcoolone aka Richard
Apologies to all
Double it to 22Ltr/100km is correct,
Just a seniors moment while typing.
I usually work in Km/Litre, the official system is crazy IMHO.
