G'day
I would like to ask other R50 Pathfinder owners who tow what they consider a COMFORTABLE weight to use as a maximum so as not to make the trip a hardship
I believe the factory says 2000kg but I reckon it might struggle a bit with that weight attached
The van we are considering weighs 1450 kg empty so add say 300kg to this gives a loaded firure of 1750 kg
It it worth compromising and buying a van say 200 kg lighter ?
What difference in vechile performance towing a loaded van of say
1550 kg loaded compared to a loaded figure of 1750 kg ?
We have a 2004 R50

I have an R50 but I haven't towed anything heavy.
However, there are a bunch of great enthusiastic pathfinder owners on the pcoa forums here www.pcoa.org.au/forum/
I know there have been some discussions on towing.

Hi Garryk
I tow both a camper trailer (900kg) and a boat (approx 1100kg loaded). It does really
well at this sort of weight range. I would be a bit dubious about regular towing at weight approaching 2T.
I think it would struggle a bit power wise and in the drivetrain. There are some hints on the PCOA
forum of problems towing heavy loads due to transmission heat buildup and blowing transmissions.
Haven't experineced it myself but where there is smoke...........
........there is one hell of a bill....
cheers
Steve
