Ever have one of those dunce moments? I can tell you I feel pretty stupid for having a single speaker sound system in the 4by for roughly 2 months when I a perfectly working system that sounded 1000 times better. First things first, I thank all of you who offer solutions to my predicament. Today I went to buy new fuses/get them tested for the 2 amps hoping that was it. I got to jaycar and they did a continuety test which both passed. DRAT! That was my last out. Driving home I was thinking about fuses when all of a sudden it hits me... WHY DIDNT I CHECK THE MAIN BLOODY FUSE!?!?! Pulled into the nearest
carpark and sure enough it was busted. Not only busted but the plastic casing itself had melted. Went to Lifestyles store, bought a 5 pack of fuses for $6 and Bob's your uncle everything worked...
Glad I figured that out when I did because I was going to go home and take all the wiring out and rewire the whole system (which for 2 amps is a lot of wire).
So I guess the lesson here is... Check the damn fuses first! Thanks again to everyone who offered their advice on my problem.
Cheers,
Anand.

Ye was the amp fuse, the head unit wasnt so lucky. Never even thought to fuse it so its buggered. Wont eject cds (unless they are forciably removed) and takes a good 2 days before it will let me play them once they are. Still makes a good radio transmitter tho :) Will get a new one when I get some money. Cheers.

Yea your unlucky mate, most head units have a fuse built in or the unit you brought should have been supplied with an inline fuse, just remember fuse every thing that draws power, and make shaw it's the right amperage.
At least the amps ok.
Cheers
Stephen.

Fuses burn for a reason - and the fact the fuse holder was melted tells me it had a major problem -- i suggest you look into why it has melted .....

How would I go about tracking down the problem? Perhaps an overheating of the engine is what did it. I imagine the engine bay would get hot then.
O
yea, took the mp3 player apart to see if i could fix it. There was another cd jammed in there and thats why other cds wouldn't go in or out. Works now :P
