G'day all,

Im am looking for a camping fridge and thought I'd ask the educated and experienced forum members here for advice before taking the lap.

I have 500 bux Rays outdoors vouchers (from my birthday) and 500 bux cash, so what sort of fridge can I get for 1,000bux that Rays outdoors sells?

I would ideally like something like a 60 litre Engel, and everywhere you turn you hear that Engel is the ducks guts of fridges.

But what about the Aussie made brands? Are they cheaper and if so is their quality any less or just as good?

I have a second battery in the tray of my hilux that'll be running it (although its a big battery it aint a deep cycle yet), any links to other aussie brand fridge companies so I can check out their specs?

Thanks guys, I know alot of you have purchased fridges which is why I ask :)

I don't think you'll find too many Aussie brand fridge companies at Ray's I'm afraid. You're probably also look more towards the 40L mark for $1k. I'm currently also in the market for a fridge and I've read good reviews about the Bushman. Also check out the ABR Sidewinder which advertises on this site. Both are local brands.

Yep, got the fridge with free cover (not genuine Waeco cover, but it does the same job) for $1049.
Cheers, Brad

We have just returned from a double crossing of the Simpson and have had a 110 ltr Waeco for four years and it is great. Our son purchased a 60 ltr Coolmate dual compartment fridge freezer just prior to the trip and it was brilliant. They run a Danfoss compressor, are well insulated and tough. It cost under $1000.
