Hi Peter, I'm wondering what the real saving, if any and the amount of ks you need to do just to break even. There has been some threads on here but no astounding fuel saving from memory. Lpg needs about 40,000ks just to break even, i guess this would be the same or more. I wonder if fuel is the major expense sometimes. Michael

True, I estimated I would need to do 20000 kms a year for 5 years to make up the initial cost, although this will probably decrease with rising fuel costs, but as far as performance goes it is everything they said it would be with my TD Jackaroo, and I get an extra 200kms roughly touring range. I would only do it to a vehicle you planned on keeping for 5 years or so though, unless you were going to spend $1500 on a chip, or exhaust, the gas will give similar type results (maybe not quite as good), but with the added benefit of extra range and cost savings per tank in that you are paying for a certain amount of gas now instead of diesel.

Hey mynavara,
We got 30% savings with 40% Increase in HP at the rear wheels out of the 3Ltr Turbo Diesel GU. Can't say for sure what the Navara would get though. Obviously every vehicle is different.
Needless to say, you've got to do the driving to get your money back on your investment 'cause thats exactly what it is. It's an investment knowing that at some point you will have saved as much as it cost for your conversion & from that moment on it's turning a profit. The sooner you do those K's then the sooner you make a profit on your investment.
I know for us, we ran a petrol 2Ltr hilux 3Y on lpg as our main vehicle for the business break down service etc & stepped into a Diesel 2.2Ltr Mazda E2200 Van which we converted to run our lpg substitution system & no word of a lie it brought the running costs of the van back down to very similar numbers as running the hilux on lpg. Needless to say we were wrapped with the results but more to the point we were more relieved than anything. Going from a petrol - lpg vehicle to a diesel was going to increase our running costs but putting the gas onto it really made all the difference. Huge relief to be honest. The thought of increasing our business operating costs scared the hell out of me.

Regards
Dallas
