The Landy
Hi
I'm trying to get the GPS to talk to the PC, not sure what I am doing wrong. I have set the configuration as per the 'help'menu, but perhaps I have overlooked something....any assistance appreicated.
Cheers

Does the computer make a ding dong type noise when you plug usb in,If not try other usb ports ! Make sure the Magellan Explorist is on,Have you installed the cd (software) too ???? And make sure the connections in setup on Explorist menu is in file transfer mode for now !

You might be a victim of the accursed USB connection phenomenom. If the USB drivers are installed correctly, the connection can be tested within Oziexplorer itself.
Click on the "Moving Map" menu item and then click on the "Show NMEA Data" item. If the connection is OK you should see a series of "sentences" that look a lot like gobbeldy gook, begin to appear in the window. Even though they look like gobbeldy gook, some of the sentences should have elements within them that make sense. Time, date and position data is relatively easy to identify.
If you can't see this, you still don't have the connect right. By the way, don't forget, you have to be outside for the GPS to send NMEA data to the laptop.

Howdy
thanks....I'm not seeing anything so clearly it isn't connected properly altought not sure where it is going wrong. I tried to upload some wayoints to the GPS and nothing transferred.??
I have set the configuration to 'Magellan' USB as per the help information......I will need to contact Oziexplore , but I'm sure it is something simple.

Seriously check your comm port........Change it up or down until it works. I think it is generally comm port 3 or 5.......

G'day Teabag
Sure is, and thanks very much for your guidance. It had to be something like the Comm port......I finally got the downloading of the waypoints and
routes sorted so I'm a happy camper now.
Easy to plan on oziexplorer and then simply download......
Cheers

Check your comm port set up in the set-up screen of your software....
Mine is comm port 3 but if you just select each one and try it should finally work....I had the same issue until I finally sort it out....I have an Explorist 600....Good Luck...
