Hi everyone.......we are now at
Alice Springs having crossed
the desert road to the Olga's.....It was a great trip...no tyre failures, thankyou Bridgestone, no vehicle failures....thankyou Toyota.....Having travelled this far, GDR, Olga's, Ayres Rock, Kings Canyon,
Mereenie loop,Goss
Bluff,
Glen Helen,
Alice Springs, nothing prepares you for the sights and the scenes....awesome and breathtaking...took lots of photos...aren't digital camera's great....saw dingos, donkeys, camels, eagles, snakes and lizards....and a
car wreck every few kilometers (ford falcon being the most popular by far), lots of exploded tyres and rims.
Road conditions vary greatly, the worst being the
mereenie loop by far, a road of tears for many, but we did it, troopy and pioneer camper trailer both fine (but cover your back windows...we did...some did not ...$350 for a repair.
It rained at
Yulara and it raining at Alice......free car and camper wash.
Will give a another report later....regards Phil.
P.S......have met no fellow explorOz's yet...where are they...proudly showing my windscreen sticker.......Going north towards
daly waters about sunday.

Hi, how many days did you spend outside of Alice?
Any special
camping areas you might recommend (preferably bush)?
Cheers

Good on ya!!! Phillip,
You made my night when I read your report. You sound like you're having such a good time. It's so good to read such enthusiasm and enjoyment. Hope there's much more to come for you.

Hi Phillip, this is what I have in mind.
Heading west from QLD on the Plenty Hwy but rather than going all the way to the Stuart cutting across through the E McDonnels to the
Ross Hwy. Only plan to stop in AS for refills etc.
From there I want to do the circular route through the W. McDonnels anti clockwise through Hermannsberg. Ayres rock is not too high on the peiority list unless I can spare the time. I want to end up in the flinders with the EO gathering on 9th July. So I figure I have about 7 to 10 days wandering around. What appealed to me is going down the Finke (a day trip without the CT). Probably, from what you said, the
places to head for are Olga's, Kings Canyon,
Mereenie loop,Goss
Bluff,
Glen Helen.
Thanks for any advice you can share.
Cheers
Fred
