Gday,
While comming
home from work at luch I saw a strange looking Toyota? (I think)
Im not sure if some one has been playing with badges or its something new or foreign. (it did have an American flag sticker on it)
It looked very similar to a Troop carrier but shorter and it was a 4 door instead of two with
barn door on the back.
It had badges on the back saying "Prado EXE"
Any ideas?
Cheers

It is probaly a '
grey import' on which the 'new' 70 Series stationwagon is based.
They have been around for a while overseas and were know as the Prado and was different from the Prado sold here.
I have seen one in
Fremantle, WA as
well and spoke to the owner about it.

Never mind the looks, looks don't get the vehicle over the Dune or through the Mud

There's a couple in
Canberra, also marketed as Landcruiser II in some markets. Like a 70 series - only smaller.

Toyota fling one or two out there into the world as a community service!!
Once you see them you realise those psychodelic drugs you are on are bad!!
Either that or it's a
grey import Prado,
Geoff

Grey hair is hereditary, you get it from children. Baldness is caused by watching the Wallabies.

What you saw was indeed an import..now being sold here as the LC 76series.
Check current Overlander for writeup. Fancy putting the new V8 diesel in a 20 year old body!!!. This thing was an early Prado that never made it to Oz. Just a
carryover wagon till the new 200 series comes out in a year or two. Dont be
surprised if it sells....to those busting to get into a V8 wagon....oldbaz.

I get a chuckle when people bag the hell out of 'newer and softer' 4WD's and remember when they 'built them tough'.
Then when a company offers up a 1980's technology 4WD with a much improved engine people laugh at it and say how outdated and what a backward step it is.

Yeah and if your 6 ft or taller don't bother, I went and sat it one at the Toyota dealer the other day, very unimpressed. Could not get it into 5th without hitting my knee and could'nt get into the drivers
seat without sliding my legs under the steering wheel...
No sub tank, leaf sprung and no auto option. They had the oppertunity to bring out a beast and they did a half assed job IMHO.
4 coils, sub tank with an auto box and some room for the driver would have made it the best 4by ever released in Oz I reckon, instead - it's just another compromise like every other 4by out there... :-(
